Giving Back: One Voice Charity Accepting Donations Now for Needy Families

by on October 28, 2012

Halloween will soon come and go and ghouls and goblins will be replaced by thoughts of family gatherings, pumpkin pie and that perfectly set table. As this season of giving and getting together is upon us, I am reminded of how fortunate we are and how each day is a gift and blessing.

There are so many ways that we can come together as a community to help those who are in need and if you live on the Westside, you may have noticed some information that I have left for you on your doorstep about just this. For most of us, the holidays are a time to come together and celebrate the gift of family and friends but, for many others, it simply is a time of sadness and fear.

As a neighbor, a mother, and a partner at Partners Trust Real Estate Brokerage, I truly feel the need and desire to “give back” this holiday season. I have worked closely with One Voice before and would like to introduce you to this fabulous non-profit organization. One Voice provides emergency relief, holiday meals and education for families living at poverty level here in Los Angeles.

I have done backpack drives for their Head Start centers, been an “elf” at their holiday program, and now want to help these same families have a meal on their table and some warm clothes in their closet. As you shop for your own special gathering, please consider blessing another family with a small contribution that will mean so much.

I have already received fabulous donations that are now sitting on my own doorstep and will be in your neighborhood through Tuesday, November 20th collecting donations for these families. We need canned food and new or gently used clothing. I absolutely hope that we can make a difference this year together and know that each can of food and piece of clothing will be so appreciated.

If you do have a donation, please feel free to call me at 310.804.9207 and I will be happy to pick it up from you anytime or you can simply leave it for me to collect. Thank you in advance for your support and time and if you would like more information, feel free to visit their site at One Voice organization. Have a wonderful start to this holiday season!

  1. This a great idea Dana, and so you to go and pick it up if need be. Great blog.

My Friend Karen Fields was telling me about the holiday program. I’d like to bring my family. When is it? Can we bring donations then, or do you need them ahead of time?

The best thing to do is go to the site as there are many family “work” days. Donations can always be brought into the office on 15th (near Wilshire) – best to bring donations ahead of time so that they can distribute and plan for each family – thank you for reaching out!
